Breathwork isn't about controlling your emotions. It's about building the capacity within yourself to move through your feelings and emotions with greater ease as they arise. To be able to navigate the difficult feelings that arise and to easily access the uplifting emotions that make us smile. It changes your perception of the situation that you're experiencing, so the best of who you are has room to emerge and enables you to respond to what is happening rather than reacting impulsively. It isn’t about escaping life’s challenges but instead, it's about creating the space to experience those challenges and situations differently. And, it all comes back to just one breath.
So, why try breathwork? Here is a little bit about why I came to be so passionate about breathwork. There was a time in my life when I thought feeling stressed, anxious and exhausted was simply part of life. Like so many people, I became very good at pushing through and pretending everything was fine. I kept going, looked like I was coping on the outside, but inside I felt really disconnected from myself. My mind never really switched off, I was constantly "doing", and I had forgotten what it felt like to truly relax. During a much darker period, I just felt so utterly sad and lost all the time. The lowest point for me was one day when I looked at my two little beautiful, perfect, small children and I felt absolutely nothing. I was just numb. That realisation that I couldn't access the feelings of joy, love or gratitude absolutely broke my heart. I felt utterly heartbroken. I just couldn't understand what was happening to me but I absolutely knew I did not want to stay in that place, whatever it was. Shortly afterwards, I came across a breathwork teacher that really inspired me and I discovered something so simple that I almost dismissed it as too easy to make any difference to how I felt. I read his book and downloaded the app and it was like a light was switched on for me almost immediately. I started to practice several times a day for a few minutes at a time and soon, I felt lighter, calmer and so much more at ease with my life. It changed far more than I ever could have wished for. Not overnight and not because it fixed my life. But because it helped me to manage very painful and difficult emotions that I felt stuck in and it showed me how to breathe in a way where I could easily access those uplifting heart-centred feelings of love, gratitude and joy. So, I guess you could say that breathwork did, in fact, change my life. Now, when I look back at that time, I feel such deep compassion and kindness for myself and where I was. That is the same compassion and gentleness that I try to show myself each day now, with the right tools to support myself.
Breathwork isn't about breathing perfectly. It's about creating tiny moments where your body feels safe enough to soften. When that happens, everything begins to shift. Your thoughts become clearer. Your body starts to relax. Your emotions become easier to manage. You begin responding to life with greater ease instead of simply reacting to it.
Emotionally
When life feels overwhelming, your breath can become an anchor for you. Many people notice they begin to feel calmer during stressful moments, worry less about everything, feel less overwhelmed by everyday life, often becoming more patient with themselves and others, feel more grounded and emotionally balanced. They reconnect with a sense of happiness, compassion and hope.
Mentally
Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten why you were there? Or felt as though your mind had dozens of tabs open all at once? Stress and overwhelm has a huge impact on how we think and gentle breathwork can help quiet some of that mental noise so you can think more clearly, improve concentration and focus, make decisions with greater confidence, feel less mentally cluttered, create space between your thoughts instead of feeling consumed by them.
Physically
Our bodies hold onto stress far more than we realise. When we spend long periods in a state of stress, worrying or feeling under pressure, our nervous system can become stuck in survival mode (fight or flight). Breathwork gently encourages your body to shift into a state of rest, repair and recovery. Many people experience deeper, more restorative sleep, increased energy levels, reduced muscle tension, improved resilience to everyday stress, a greater sense of ease throughout the day (imagine the day just flowing with ease). It isn't about forcing relaxation, it's about creating the conditions where your body remembers how to naturally returns to a state of balance, stability and coherence.
The Small Moments Matter
One of the biggest myths is that you need an hour every day to feel better. You don't. Some of the most powerful changes begin with two or three intentional minutes. A few slow breaths as you open you eyes first thing when you wake in the morning. Three deep breaths before opening your laptop. A pause before answering a difficult email or having a difficult conversation. A moment to reset before walking through the front door after work. These little moments often become the foundation for lasting change. Small, consistent acts of self-care create big shifts over time.
Breathwork isn't about changing your life overnight. It's about changing how you meet each
moment in your life.

Revitalise 1-to-1 Programme Client
I did the Revitalise programme with Aine recently and overall I found it very beneficial and loved all the explanations given by Aine at each session. Her recommendations were practical and not overwhelming, which I really liked. I also like incorporating the breathing exercises to help reduce my stress levels and I practiced these to help reduce my work anxiety

Breathwork for Resilience Programme Client
I absolutely loved Aine's 4-week Breathwork for Resilience programme, I felt so at ease with her. I felt like I was floating on air and found it so much easier to sit with my difficult emotions without feeling overwhelmed. Each week, I felt it was so much easier to sit with my emotions and breathe through them. I will be using Aine's techniques with my kids as they also struggle with anxiety. Thank you so much Aine. li

From the first phone call, Aine could not have been more helpful, offering advice and guidance how best to deliver the session. We have several locations and we wanted to give all staff the opportunity to take part. Aine was happy to accommodate the blended delivery and we were able to have staff face to face and online sessions. Some feedback from our staff included: “It was such a lovely way to start a week.” “I could feel the stress slip out of me”. “You come in on a Monday morning with thoughts of what the week will hold, taking time to breath relaxes and focused me for the day/week ahead. Her delivery makes you feel safe and relaxed. It amazing how we take breathing for granted. The feedback from staff was very positive, everyone felt the benefit of the breathwork activity and they would highly recommend Aine to others.

Head Injury Support Group, Newry (NI)
Aine facilitated a 6 week programme for our clients. The sessions were specifically designed around the needs of our clients and incorporated not only quality nutritional ingredients but recipes that were easy to follow and were cost effective. The clients absolutely loved the engagement and learning from Aine and were so responsive to all the sessions and all the recipes. The sessions brought about a sense of camaraderie within the hostel and helped those clients who struggle with expression to really come out of themselves. There was an instant mood boost and all round sense of belonging in the kitchen when Aine was delivering the sessions. One client stated that “I actually love cooking and never thought I was much good at it before. I will definitely be trying these recipes for myself", thanks Aine for all your support and enthusiasm
